Call Governor Hickenlooper
President Trump has abandoned our nation’s responsibility to participate in the global response to the climate crisis. Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement ensures his own disgraceful legacy, but we can’t let him speak for our state. Where President Trump fails us, Governor Hickenlooper must step up and join Governors across the country in taking bold climate action.
Following Trump’s departure, Governor Hickenlooper released this statement:
“It is a serious mistake to back out of the Paris Accord This is a historic global agreement between almost every nation on earth to address the single most pressing issue facing humanity. Abandoning this climate deal is like ripping off your parachute when you should be pulling the ripcord.”
“Colorado’s commitment to clean air and clean energy will continue. Clean energy is abundant, home-grown, and creates 21st century jobs for our modern workforce across every part of our state. We renew our commitment to pursue cleaner energy at a lower cost. To do otherwise would be governmental malpractice.””
We need Governor Hickenlooper to commit to these values, and we must demand action to prove it. The Governor must join the Climate Alliance, a group of Governors who have stepped up and promised to follow the Paris Agreement.
Take two minutes to call Governor Hickenlooper’s office at (303) 866-2471 and urge him to commit to a clean energy future for Colorado!
With enough public pressure, Governor Hickenlooper will act on his promise that Colorado will continue it’s “commitment to clean air and clean energy.” But he needs to hear from as many of us as possible, as quickly as possible. With enough voices, we can drown out Trump’s shameful decision with pledges to fight for a livable climate future without him.
